Cid Collins Walker received her BA in painting from Scripps College in Claremont, California in 1974, and was awarded a studio fellowship with the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1975. She has worked with several distinguished artists in the fields of visual art, dance, film and theater including Merce Cunningham, Yvonne Rainer and for several years with Robert Rauschenberg’s master printer, Larry Wright. She currently teaches at Chesapeake College and has taught at American University, Catholic University, Maryland Institute College of Art and Towson State University.
Central to her work is the production of fine paintings and prints. In 2017 Collins Walker had a large mixed media work called La Fenêtre on exhibition at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, Maryland and also showed a large digital fine print at the Academy Art Museum in 2019 called Elysian Fields.
Her work has been exhibited in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and New York, and internationally in France, Holland, Belgium and Brazil. Although the artist works in many mediums, painting and printmaking are primary disciplines in her work.
In 2012 Cid Collins Walker was the executive producer of the documentary film ARC OF LIGHT: A Portrait of Anna Campbell Bliss. ARC OF LIGHT was presented at many museums throughout the United States and subsequently aired on PBS Network.
ARC OF LIGHT: A Portrait of Anna Campbell Bliss tells the powerful and poignant story of an American artist who devoted her life to the expression of color and light, exploring the boundaries between art and the physical world including architecture, mathematics and geometry. The film also puts Bliss’s work in art-historical context and traces her Modernist influences, including the Bauhaus artists of the 1920s.
