Otto Neumann
Provenance
Estate No. 044015 is signed “Otto Neumann 53” (graphite, recto) This piece was almost certainly produced at Neumann’s home studio in Munich & was bequeathed to the Rothschilds upon his death in 1975. After that, it was at US Art (professional art storage facility in Chicago which also serves museums), in the care of dealer Timothy Tew, in the care of Director Sean Ferneau, and in the care of dealer Courtney Collins. Estate No. 044015 is from the “Horse & Rider” series, most of which was produced in the 1950’s. All “Horse & Rider” prints are rare. This series has dwindled after being highly sought after by clients, dealers & designers for decades. Estate No. 044015 is featured on page 220 of former Curator Dr. David Sokol’s monograph, Otto Neumann: His Life and Work.
