Provenance

Estate No. 087021 is signed “Neumann 69” and dated “22.1.69” (graphite, recto). This piece was almost certainly produced at Neumann’s home studio in Munich & was bequeathed to the Rothschilds upon his death in 1975. Estate No. 087021 was previously on loan to the Tampa Museum of Art in Tampa, Florida. It may have been exhibited in a major solo retrospective of his work at the museum in 1987/1988, which traveled to several German museums before returning to the States. After that, it was in the care of the family, Director Sean Ferneau, and dealer Courtney Collins.
