"When I look at Osborn's photographs, I see documentation and history, but furthermore, I see beautiful art captured within each image" Rheanna Menges, Robert Osborn Gallery Curator and Manager
Robert Osborn Reception and Exhibition,
August 7, 2024, 5 PM to 7:30 PM
Exclusively at Courtney Collins Fine Art, in between several museum exhibitions, Robert Osborn's photographic portraiture of Montana cowboys and Indians:
"For the past fifteen years, I have been photographing Rocky Mountain cowboys, Northern Plains Indians, and the Fort Peck Reservation Indian homeless ...Montana People. Somewhere along the line, this became more than a photographic project. Way more. During each new photo session, with each of these different peoples, my heart got more involved.
My photo sessions are exhilarating creative periods of intention, imagination, communication, respect, empathy. Time bends. Ideas appear, swirl around, collide, break apart ... Sometimes to rejoin in wonderful new ways.
As the session progresses, I carefully watch my subject for some unplanned movement or expression .... Something that speaks of the true, unselfconscious, unguarded person. This will often lead to an image that's better than anything I could possibly have planned." - Robert Osborn
